Virginia herself says she is not as intelligent as it takes to have been an engineer, but her work ethic is second to none. She will put her studying before anything else (even in the apocalypse), except maybe family. She doesn't make time for anyone else unless it is 100% convenient for her, which is rare. The majority of her "free time" is spent with her nose in a book, sketching blueprints, and even trying to get her artwork accepted. But nowadays, it's just too tough with the world the way it is.
